The permanence and the impermanence of glass intrigues me. Transparency in a piece of clear glass can be played with to reveal what’s inside and yet protect it at the same time. Seeing light dance through colored glass has the ability to create a childlike awe in the viewer, a sense of being bathed in it, while yet being separate. The ability I have as an artist to bend light, to make it dance, reflect and move and create a sense of awe in the viewer, is very powerful.

My love of nature, specifically pollinators, birds, flowers and the importance of environmental protection have inspired me to grow and tend a garden which then serves as a muse to create glass art in these themes. For example, the marks within the center of a flower might find its way into a glass sculpture or object I create, or a cluster of flowers finds its way into a mosaic. I use fused glass and mosaic as my medium of expression and nothing makes me happier than creating art.
