Stained Glass Artist

Artist Statement

As a psychologist, my glass work is heavily influenced by universal themes, most often philosophical and/or humanitarian in nature. I also strive to create work that is contemplative and soothing, pieces that exude calm or orderliness. Stained glass as an art medium provides me with an opportunity to engage both my left and right brain hemispheres. The glass medium demands technical precision in pattern design, glass cutting, and most other facets of the process, as well as a right brain conceptual and design sensibility. And for me, the joy of the glass itself, backlit by sun, is immeasurable. Glasswork is where I find my flow.

Bio

I began my stained glass journey 25+ years ago after taking a stained glass course in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate NY. This began my lifelong journey of continuous learning and experimenting with new stained glass techniques and methods. I enjoyed my career as a psychologist while pursuing glass as a hobbyist, and since retirement, I have moved full speed ahead into cultivating stained glass as a profession. I incorporate both traditional stained glass techniques with more contemporary, experimental techniques, such as copper foil and wire overlay as well as plating glass layers. I am a continuous learner and experimenter.
