 2012: Fifty Years of the Contemporary Studio Art Glass Movement
The new year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Contemporary Studio Art Glass Movement. Like many glass art organizations, NCAGG will be incorporating this celebration into our activities in 2012. We are busily planning our 2012 programs and events with this anniversary celebration in mind. Throughout the year we will be inviting our members to join us in a variety of special programs designed to make this a special year of celebration of glass art.

 November 5 - December 4, 2011: Arts Afire NCAGG Show 2011 in Alexandria, VA
Our 6th annual show at the Arts Afire Gallery in Alexandria, VA, titled "Celebrations In Light", showcased the diversity and creativity in glass art in the Greater DC area. The show included the work of 20 NCAGG members and was juried by the gallery.

 February 2012: Wiener Co-President of Foundry Gallery in Washingtpn, DC
Robert Wiener was elected co-president of the Foundry Gallery, a non-profit artist-run gallery located in the Dupont Circle Historic District of Washington, DC

 January 17 - May 7, 2012: Tanenbaum and Avnisan Exhibition in Washington, DC
Jill Tanenbaum and Varda Avnisan are featured at the IONA Gallery in Washington, DC, January 17 - May 7, 2012. The artists participate in Lunch & Learn at the gallery, with a conversation and tour, January 19, 2012, 12:30-1:30 pm. Meet the artists reception is February 10, 2012, 5-8 pm.

 January 4 - February 25, 2012: Janis and Minnick in Bullseye Exhibition in Portland, OR
Michael Janis and Kari Minnick participate with four other artists in a Bullseye exhibition titled "Facture" that surveys the current landscape of painting with glass. January 4 - February 25, 2012 at the Bullseye Gallery in Portland, OR. Opening reception January 4, 2012, 5:30-7:30 pm.

 December 10, 2011 - February 14, 2012: Minnick, Siegel and Siegel Exhibition in Fairfax, VA
Kari Minnick, Ruth Siegel and Laurie Siegel exhibit their art in an exhibition titled "M+2S = More Than Just Glass" at the Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia in Fairfax. Opening reception January 29, 2012, 4 - 6 pm.

 November 5 - 27, 2011: Lipschultz in a Show at the Blue Elephant Art Center in Frederick, MD
Claudia Lipschultz participates in a show titled "Contrasts" at the Blue Elephant Art Center in Frederick, MD. Opening reception November 5, 2011, 10 am-5 pm.

 October 19 - November 19, 2011: Keating in a Two-Person Exhibit at the Benfield Gallery in Severna Park, MD
Viki Keating exhibits her fused glass art along with abstract paintings by Erica Walsh in the "Fresh Color & Light" exhibit at the Benfield Gallery in Severna Park, MD. Meet the artists reception November 5, 2011, 2-4 pm.

 October 22-23, 2011: Wiener Open Studio in Washington, DC
Robert Wiener and his DC Art Glass studio participate in the semi-annual Mid City Artists tour along with 20 DC artists in various media. Sat & Sun, October 22 & 23, 2011, 11 am - 5 pm [midcityartists.com]

 October 22-23 and 29-30, 2011: Braun in the Mountain Maryland Art Tour
Elizabeth Braun participates in the 2011 Mountain Maryland Art Sales & Tour [artsaleandtour.com] organized annually by the Allegany Arts Council in Western Maryland. Fifty seven artists in several media and their studios participate in the event in 2011.

 September 28 - November 6, 2011: Lipschultz at Artomatic@Frederick, in Frederick, MD
Claudia Lipschultz exhibits her work at Artomatic@Frederick, a visual and performing arts event in historic downtown Frederick.

 September 10 - October 9, 2011: Kessler-Gowell, and Lurie Exhibition in Glen Echo, MD
Ian Kessler-Gowell, and Kevin Lurie participate in the blown glass four-person exhibit "Refractions: A Story in Glass" at the Popcorn Gallery of Glen Echo Park. Artists reception is September 17, 2011, 6-8 pm.

 July 16 - October 8, 2011: Sheard Exhibit at the Ravalli County Museum, Hamilton, MT
Kathleen Sheard exhibits her wildlife themed glass art at the Ravalli County Museum in Hamilton, MT in an exhibit titled "The Passion, The Perseverance = The Process". The reception is July 16, 2011, 6-9 pm.

The work of Rhoda Baer is included in the 2012 New Glass Review, a publication of the Corning Museum of Glass. The Review is an annual survey of jury-selected glass art submitted by artists from around the world.

 Fall 2011: Danner-Walker's New Book on Printmaking on Glass
Jody Danner Walker has written a new book titled "Printmaking Techniques on Glass" for artists who want to learn how to adapt traditional printmaking techniques for use on fused glass [warmglass.com/printmaking]

 Glass Art Book Features Several NCAGG Members
"Art Glass Today", a 2010 book by Jeffrey B. Snyder, features over 60 contemporary, international glass artists and their work and covers many techniques of glass art. Several classes are offered at the Art Glass Center in Glen Echo, MD - blown, stained, cast, kilnformed, beads, jewelry and more.
