When first working with glass, I was immediately captivated by its qualities of color and light, and intrigued by the range of techniques and possibilities of further exploration.

I was introduced to the art of kilnformed glass via a circuitous route. After receiving a BA in Fine Arts from Indiana University in 1976, I worked as a jeweler in New York City, eventually launching a jewelry design and production business. I later pursued a degree and career in information technology and after raising a family, I returned to art. I took my first class in fused glass in 1999 at Glen Echo Park and that was the beginning of my new career.

All my fused glass pieces are individually designed. I begin by creating a drawing, or model. I then cut, grind, and assemble the various glass components to be incorporated into the design. I may also use techniques such as sandblasting, torch work, and airbrushing. The piece is then transferred into the kiln, where it may be refired multiple times depending on the complexity and the desired effect. The final firing usually involves using a mold to obtain the three dimensional shape. I continue to learn and experiment.

I mainly produce nature inspired functional and sculptural glass, as well as custom architectural work such as windows, counter tops, tiles, and mirrors.
