I find myself drawn to glass for several reasons. Whether it is hot (blown), warm (fused) or cold worked glass, I am fascinated with what seems to be an infinite diversity of color, texture and form. The fact that fused glass predates glass blowing and, up until the last hundred years or so was a lost art, gives fusing a special mystique.

I was born and raised in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. After more than two decades in finance I took my first class in art glass and two years later I opened my own studio. I have won several awards for my Colorbar Murrine Series, which I developed by joining the hot glass technique perfected in Murano with the kilnformed, or warm glass process.

My work explores the relationship between pattern and color through abstract, geometric design. Texture is achieved through precise temperature control and extensive coldworking. The result: a unique, contemporary textile appearance that lends itself to decorative, architectural and functional applications.
