I am a self-taught artist strongly guided by my unconscious. As a 5-year-old, I was mesmerized by my aunt’s Tiffany lamp. With the yank of a chain, I lit up the world: shards of glass in reds, purples, oranges & greens danced before my eyes. I couldn’t get enough.

My fascination with color and light was ignited and continued throughout my childhood: I would sit at my  window for hours gazing at my neighbors’ Christmas light displays. Glittered Valentine’s were pure joy & my eyes had a party with the prisms created by blowing soap bubbles. Ironically for decades I struggled to find the art medium that best spoke for me. Some days I’d be holding a pencil, a paintbrush or a soldering iron. I’d have clay under my fingernails or acrylic paint in my sink basin - but none of these instruments felt right.

Then, around 2000, I found myself buying sheet after sheet of gorgeous stained glass. There was no plan. I hadn’t read a book or taken a class - yet glass mosaics flowed. I had thought my prior works of pointillist drawings, linoleum block prints & metal jewelry were purely disjoint efforts, but they were the chassis for my mosaics. My unconscious has carried me & expressing myself with glass feels solid to the core.

I hope you feel my joy and you find some of the wonder I feel when gazing into the glass and light - that unexpected “wow” that makes you want to come back for more.
